Midwest supplies forgot to pack my syphoning tube in kit. Can I use the watts 5/16 vinyl tubing from Home Depot?

Is it food grade?

Will it taste funny?

Clean it and use it. Don't know what 'watts' is, but your beer is cool so if it contains PVCs, they won't be drawn out.

I keep getting a coating on my tubing from HD... it doesn't really come off and not sure exactly what it is but it makes the clear tubing cloudy on the outside if that makes sense. I can whipe it with my finger but in a day or so it comes back. Any idea what it is?

I've had star san do this.

You shouldn't have to replace them. Just wash them good and store them till needed

Yes you can use it. I did for a couple of years. Once you get some silicone tubing, you'll never touch that vinyl stuff again.

It's plasticizers (an ingredient that makes vinyl soft & bendable) coming to the surface. The low pH of the Star San will cause some to leach out.

Not harmful? I used it on the inside as well.
