Hello this is my first post and I am working on my first batch right now. Its an American IPA from a True Brew kit. Ive had the beer in the primary for 7 days and the airlock stopped bubbling on day 4. I took a gravity reading today and the beer has reached 1.012. Is it safe to rack to the secondary today or do I need to wait a few more days?

Wow, no posts yet explaining that you don't need to rack to a secondary. Give it time, even though that is not what you asked ;-)

Yes, you can rack as soon as bubbling stops or the krausen starts to drop.

It may be ready, but it wouldn't hurt to wait another day, take another gravity reading to be sure that it is done. To reiterate upon pkeeler, the use of a secondary is probably not necessary, just another chance to mess up.
