I started a 5 gal batch of cider with apple juice
I added 2 pounds of liquid honey
and 2 pounds of sugar
topped off with water (about 1.5 liters)
I then added 5 crushed campden tablets
how long do I have to wait to add my yeast
what is the minimum time

you making apflwine? that is going to be like 10% thats alot of sugar and honey imo, but im just a noob, so maybe not

George is right to be concerned. More sugar = more alcohol = less cider taste = longer aging to get it more drinkable. Mind you, I said "cider taste" not apple. Wines don't taste like grapes.

does adding sugar really change the taste that much
and if I'm using store bought apple juice do I really need the campden

probaly dont need campden, but yeah that much sugar and honey and you will get rocket fuel that will take a long time to age before its drinkable like 6 months+ unless you stop it short, but then you wont be able to carb and it will be really really sweet i would think. I just did my first batch of cider, and its like 7% and i added no sugar, just cinnamon sticks and cloves, but i used raw cider too from the orchard. Ill be bottling real soon.
