Hopefully, my home-brewed porter will do 'em justice.

Also ran: Michelob's Porter. Right taste, if not right mouthfeel. Good price. Please don't hate me for liking it!

michelob porter???

strange and interesting. i'm not gonna lie, i didn't dislike their amber bock....

In my book Fullers has to be #1 because England invented the porter.

If you guys never tried the ones below you better get thee to a beer distributor. I don't see them listed in this thread.

Ølfabrikken Porter (Denmark)
Nogne Porter (Norway)

Anchor Porter
Sam Adams Holiday Porter
Smuttynose Robust Porter
Mayflower Porter
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
Fullers London Porter
Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter
Otter Creek Stovepipe Porter
Long Trail Imperial Porter
Berkshire Drayman's Porter
Berkshire Coffeehouse Porter
Moat Mountain Vanilla Porter on beer engine

Edit: Just realized it was supposed to be your top 3 porters... Though I really like all the porters I listed I guess I'm going to go with SA Holiday Porter, Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter.. Oh who am I kidding, I can't pick just three!

Bell's Porter
Edmund Fitzgerald
Samuel Smith's Taddy Porter

Another porter that was pretty good:
Flag 1825 Porter

Sinebrychoff
Bell's
Flag
tie for fourth: Sierra Nevada
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter

Though I just had Sinebrychoff for the first time last night (on draft, no less), it makes my top three. Really great beer, and quite unique -- I had never had a porter quite like it.

I guess to round out the top three I'd say Anchor Porter and Duck Rabbit's Baltic Porter (since we were given permission to throw the Baltics out there).

i went on a big baltic binge a bit ago.

it was good, but the bad thing was I couldn't remember which ones were which. now i don't even remember which ones I've had, since they generally have interesting brewery names.

Baltika #9 i know I've had and liked.

Also ran: Michelob's Porter. Right taste, if not right mouthfeel. Good price. Please don't hate me for liking it!

Agreed. I just picked up Michelob's fall sampler pack (which included the porter) and all the beers were surprisingly good! Also came with a cool tasting sheet and some online links about the brews. Go Michelob?

Kona Pipeline Porter
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter
Terrapin Dos Cacao Chocolate Porter (limited run)

Haven't opened my Alaskan Smoked Porter... My list may change after that....

Berkshire Brewing Company-Drayman Porter
Long Trail- Imperial Porter (Brewmasters Series)
West River Brewing- River Run Porter (MINE)

  1. Founders Porter - that stuff is amazing. It has a 99 on RateBeer for a good reason
  2. Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
  3. Arcadia's London Porter

If I had to pick just three, I'd select these for now:

1) Zywiec Porter
2) Thirsty Dog - Old Leghumper Porter
3) Sam Smith Taddy Porter

Some other good ones:
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald Porter
Smuttynose Robust Porter
Synebrechoff Porter
Baltika Porter
Middle Ages - The Duke of Winship Porter

Foothills Brewing Peoples Porter
Smuttynose Porter
Homebrewed Honey Imperial Porter(make it, its amazing!)

1) (512) Pecan Porter (Draft only) (Also their barell aged double pecan porter)
2) Santa Fe Pen Porter ( can get their pale and brown in TX, but not the porter :( )
3) Draught House Vanilla Porter (Local BrewPub, used to serve it on Nitro, seasonal)

You asked for 3, but:
4) Sierra Nevada Porter (My substitute for the Santa Fe)
5) Kona PipeLine (Wouldn't mind getting some on draft... in Hawaii)
6) Real Ale Coffee Porter (seasonal)

My top 3, in no particular order:
Kona Pipeline Porter
Breckenridge Vanilla Porter
Founders Porter

Honorable mention:
Boulevard Bully Porter

(512) Pecan Porter
Fuller's London Porter
Edmund Fitzgerald

(512) Pecan Porter in Austin (draft only). We cant get a number of those other beers down here in Texas (Bells, Founders, etc.), unless in trade.

I have the Great Lakes EF and I may have a Founders porter left as well. I'll try to remember to drag them with me to the next Zealots meeting.

Two Brothers Red Eye Baltic Porter
Central Waters Brewing Company Mudpuppy Porter
Great Lakes Edmund Fitzgerald
