A member in a local homebrew club is enamored with the reddish color of this brew. By reading some of the remarks made about it, it seems to be well received. Would anyone have an inkling of a recipe?

Thanks,
Wild

I did an Irish red that has a very nice ruby color.

10# Pale 2-row
2# Crystal 60
8oz Cara-pils.

I have also heard that a bit of chocolate malt will make a beer red but too much will make it brown.

When I first started brewing I didn't see the big deal with color. Now every time I pour a pint, I hold it up to the light and gawk at it. Beautiful!

Just nipped back into work on the way home from the pub and saw this thread. :rockin:

I used to basically live on this stuff in Scotland if there was nothing of note on the hand pumps. One of the best beers around. Callie 80 was what you asked for in the pub. Very popular beer in Scotland.

make it and love it!!!

No idea how close it'll be, but that looks like a nice recipe. Think I'd be inclined to up the mash a couple degrees. 67° wouldn't be too high at all for that medium malty finish.
