Hi everyone! I just did another AG batch last night and was careful to take all my gravity and volume measurements pre boil. I've only got about 6 batches I'm wondering how to calculate my efficiency? My pre-boil batch looked like this:

6.3 gal
14lb 2row
11oz caramel 60L
4oz flaked wheat

the gravity at 127F was 1.060, which I think is about 1.073 temperature adjusted. I've been guessing my efficiency is around high 70's...?

Thanks for any tips!

Great! Make the guy think he's getting 81% brewhouse efficiency...

yeah, well, I didn't name it. I am assuming you mean that what I should have said is that 81% is the mash efficiency, although the calculator says brewhouse. rollseyes back attcha.

Many thanks. I'd used beersmith to calculate my predicted OG and compared it to my readings for my post boil gravity. That gave me 80%, but I wasn't sure how to use my pre-boil numbers with beersmith.

Anyway, it seems like I'm doing ok with my technique and now I know basically where I'm at.

Is brewhouse efficiency the post-boil and mash efficiency the pre-boil?

Thanks everyone!

Dan
