How many ppm of Ca and CL does one teaspoon of CaCl (powder, not flaked) add to 5 gal of water? Thanks.

One gram of CaCl2 in one gallon gives 72ppm Ca, and 127.4ppm Cl.

Welcome!
Thanks. I have that number, but don't know how many grams of the powder CaCl are in a teaspoon - no accurate scale.

The only real accurate way of adding brewing salts is by weight. There is too much variance when using volumes. If you're getting this serious, it's time to get a good enough scale. They're not that expensive.

I actually was just reading this in some books I have. The recipe I have says to use 2 teaspoons. But I think I'm going to get Ph 5.2 to try. Does this mean that I could delete this from the recipe?

Thanks. I found a site saying the same thing. Per my calculations, thats 49 ppm Ca and 86 ppm Cl per teaspoon per 5 gallons.
