I'm currently brewing a 5 gal bath of vanilla Mocha imperial stout, estimated Abv to be between 9-11%(had a few temperature fluctuations so we shall see what the FG clocks in at when I rack into secondary today). What my big question is here is this: is about to add the cacao nibs into the secondary, but i can decide whether to soak them in vodka or bourbon. I know the flavor will be mild, if any, and it's more for sterilization purpose than anything else. Any pros or cons that anyone has for either?

I've used vanilla vodka to soak nibs in for an Imperial Chocolate Vanilla Porter and straight vodka the other times I've used nibs. I soaked mine during the entire fermentation period and added both (vodka and nibs) into the keg when I racked the beers over.
