Buzzsaw brown ale

Buzzsaw is out again. I really liked it last year when I got a sixer of it right before it disappeared and then kind of forgot about it.

Then I saw it at the store tonight and picked some up and after a few drinks I realized something. This tastes a lot like my brown biscuit ale I made. Very, very similar. I think I had this sitting in my subconscious and I was trying to copy it without knowing it.

This is still better though, so maybe I'll make more of a conscious effort next time.

Deschutes Brewing makes Buzzsaw. I bought some a few days ago and liked it but I still haven't had a brown ale as good as Rogues' Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

Here's the basic recipe. It's a PM.

BBD Brown Biscuit Ale

7 lbs Amber LME
1lb Special B
.5 lb Biscuit
.5 lb 6-row
.5 lb Carapils
1 oz Fuggles at 45min
1 oz Fuggles at 10min

The original didn't have the carapils, but I added that in the version I have in fermenter right now. Needed a little help with body and head.

I added half the LME and start of boil and half at 15min.

Deschutes Brewing makes Buzzsaw. I bought some a few days ago and liked it but I still haven't had a brown ale as good as Rogues' Hazelnut Brown Nectar.

In my opinion, almost anything is better than that Hazelnut monstrosity. It tastes like extract to me, and I am still shocked that so many people like it.

I like Buzzsaw. It is a very caramely (I know, that's not a word) brown and it is pretty damn easy to drink.

It still isn't as good as Alesmith Nautical Nut Brown, but they are two different styles, so whatever.

Yeah Buzzsaw is good stuff though I like most all Deschutes beers. I just found 12 packs for $9.99 each so I got stocked up
