I am looking at buying a new brew kettle and really stuck on what to buy. I have narrowed it down a little bit. I know I want a 15/16 gallon brew kettle because at some point I may brew a 10 gallon batch and wouldn't want to upgrade for that. I have looked at the differences between stainless steel and Aluminum, it seems that stainless steel will just look better over time as the main difference.
Now I looked at different options for the kettles and some had thermometers and spigots available. The thermometers mostly had bad reviews especially and lowering the temp so I would like to get one without. Spigots seemed to be for people not able to carry a 10 gallon batch. I will only be doing 5 gallons for the foreseeable future and figure if I had to, that could be a later option.
The two I have narrowed down to are a bayou classic 16 gallon with a spigot for $129 on amazon. The other is a 15 gallon Thunder group aluminum kettle for around $75 and the lid is $20. I had a person on another board recommend the aluminum one to me saying it was durable and has worked well for me. Does anyone have any experience with either of these? After I purchase the kettle, next will be a propane burner, when I select the option to buy the bayou classic it has one recommended for it, which I would probably purchase for around $50. Any ideas on one of those too?
And last, I have read great things about wilserbrew BIAB's and I will definitely be ordering from him when I get this all figured out.
Thank you so much and hope to get some great advice! I imagine I have over thought this process, but want to make sure my next step is the right step.
