I actually got motivated and was going to build myself a little thermostat to control a small heat source in my 'fermentation chamber' (aka: the old fridge) to help keep temps in the right range when the outside temp drops to below 60°F.

I spent a little time last night and drew up the schematic and did some simulations to make sure it would work the way I wanted. It all looks great.

However, I found out today that Radio Shack does not carry a single type of thermistor. Zero, zilch, nada....

I can find them on-line, but that's a huge waste of money because I'll end up having to spend $10 on shipping for an item that costs only a couple dollars and weights less than 1 gram. I'm pretty ticked off about the whole thing.

What is it and how does it work. Maybe i can salvage one from all the medical junk i have here at work.

thanks.

I already checked Jameco today, and YES, they charge a minimum of $6 to ship the first pound of goods. The only thing I can't find locally is a thermistor, and I don't want to pay $6.50 for it!

not that I have found. I only found a few places that sell things specifically geared toward audiophiles and f*cking Radio Shack.

Tell me what you want and I'll send you one baked in a cake. ;)
Honestly though, I can source one out for you, it should only be a dollar or two to ship.

I may need some more stuff from Jameco as well. I want to build a stir plate. For this I already bought all the stuff, including a fan. But I neede to use the fan for my fridge temp controller. We should be able to get an oder together. Maybe I want to build myself a better thermostat too.

No need. I picked up a cheap thermostat tonight and did what I needed to do.

I appreciate the offer though. Thanks Cheyco.
