Hi. I have an old Marvel wine chiller that I'm using a a fermenter and an old Sanyo mini fridge that I'll be turning into my kegerator. My wife didn't much care for the look of them next to the kitchen so I got the go-ahead to build a bar around them.
It took about a month to build the bar and now I'm ready to start running lines from the kegerator to the tower. I bought an ceramic tower off a guy on craigslist but there's a problem. There are no nipples on end of the shanks. As I understand it, I'm going to need a nipple (either straight or elbow) and a hex beer nut to connect it to the shank.
So I went to the local home brew store and the guy there told me that the shanks I had were an odd size(diameter). It seems a lot smaller than the 7/8" diameter pieces they they carry. I'm guessing it's about a 3/8" diameter shank(I'm not talking about the bore I mean the outside diameter). So as you can imagine, I can't find any parts to fit it. Heck, most of the sites I've been to don't even list a diameter in the specs of a hex nut!
Does anyone out there know about shanks of this diameter and where I could get parts?
If not, I'll have to end up drilling out the holes on my tower to accommodate the larger shank diameter. If I do that then I'll probably have to buy new faucets too. Everything I have now is all brass and I really want to keep it.
