Bubble over with air lock

So my second brew, a coopers ipa with 3lbs of malt extract 1050og, was bubbling over in my fermenter. i did a full boil and it took super long to bring it down to temp and i probly put the yeast in while it was too hot. could this be why? what will happen? anyways i took out the double bubble and put in a tube and put the end of the tube in a bowl of water so it wouldnt happen anymore any input?
 
Foam coming out of the airlock is the sign of a strong fermentation. Sounds like you've already replaced the airlock with a blow off tube. That's all there is to do.

What is the temp of the fermenter?
 
Mine has done what I think you are describing many times from crazy aggressive fermentation (racking on to a yeast cake).

I'm in the process of my first brew, and it's doing the same thing. I setup a blowoff tube, and now that's all under control. But my concern is this: the recipe I'm using says that fermentation should be done in 4-6 days. I'm now on day 9, and still getting bubbles about every 3 seconds.

Should I be concerned that it's taking this long? I can't bottle until I have no more bubbles right?

4-6 days is just bad advice. It could be done in 4-6 days but really you should leave it in the primary fermenter much longer. I'd say 7-10 days is the minimum. Even after the airlock slows and the yeast falls to the bottom they are still working to clean up the flavors in the beer. Let them take there time and you will be rewarded with a better beer.
 
Is that an empty bottle of King Cobra on the floor? I prefer Mickey's myself......

Yeah, I use em for cold brewing coffee, holding sanitizer, and if I have a low ABV beer, to bottle. Cobra is my pick of the litter when I have no money. Well, was. Now I got homebrew!
4.5%ish oatmeal stout (first brew):

ABV was low b/c I didn't get boil off that I calculated for. Now I use 2 burners and get .7 gallon boil off per 60 minutes.
 
what could happen due to putting the yeast in at a high temp? aka above 82 degrees? obviously from what ive said its fermenting so that isnt an issue but can it have ill effectS?

A harsh alcohol flavor and lots of fruity off flavors like bubble gum. It depends on the yeast.
