Thinking of joining the Preservation Society next year, but first a few questions, and I couldn't think of a better group to ask them to...

(1) What are the allocations typically like? Do I get access to buy additional bottles to lots of non allocated beer, or just a select few?

Generally one big barrel aged beer like Black Tuesday, Mocha Wednesday, or anniversary. One sour from Terreux, and one non BA random beer that's a one off.

You can get additional beers occasionally but I have only done it once or twice because they exactly the best beers.

you mean to say you don't like buying 6 extra shëgoat?

Oh great, Grey Monday and Black Tuesday in the same quarter. Luckily no one is buying bcbs this year
I haven't even gotten to a single bottle of BT that I purchased last yr and only opened one from the bunch I bought the year before. Hope I learn my lesson this yr.

Man HS has been ****** this yr so far. By my count, 1 beer that was HS only "Room for Me". Is that correct?

I believe that's correct. I kind of wonder if they're going to restructure the societies (or get rid of them) next year because there has been almost no value to HS this year and it seems like there's been a lot of excess quantity to the RS exclusives.

I'm in the same boat as you guys. Only bought 5 bottles this year.
Only used my growler one time, haven't seen a hs only growler fill yet (or anything good).

I split my membership this year and maybe next year someone will buy it from me for one year and take a year off completely.

Yeah I'm certaintly not finding $400 extra value in getting 6 bottles of MW/Scotch Poterie right off the bat. Trying to find an excuse to crack 16%+ bottles even if I love them (MW) is tough.

I guarantee there is a line of people in RS waiting to get into HS and a line of PS members to take their place in RS.

Oh fo sho. I mentioned dropping out in the society thread over on BA and 3 people contact me asking what they could offer me for it. Ala them becoming my "new trustee" and they pay for/keep all the bottles.

Good friend has a Provisions membership and is in need of a Trustee. He doesn't forum, but overly communicates via spreadsheets and email. Anyone willing to help out? I'll make sure your thank you boxes are quality. ;)

I am guessing you mean Preservation? If so I am more than glad to. I currently proxy for 2 PS members as well as myself. I would only make it there at a minimum once per quarter, but sometimes more often. If he is fine with that I have no issue being his trustee.

Pictures of the Hoarders invites are making the rounds. Looks like Rue D'Floyd, Beauregarde, Port Black Tuesday and new iterations of Wineification and Room For Me included as part of the 24 bottles for Hoarders next year.

Us Reservers will have to wait until next week for RS details.

Glad to hear Beauregarde coming back.

someone who respects beer said:
Heard some hoarders won't be invited back. Should bring some fun banter to this tread!

^i've got the gnarliest schadenboner at this possibility. Based on the tantrums from hoarders getting two anni party tickets instead of four, id expect not getting invited back will cause the world to split down the middle...

Serious question, Xul or the guy he was replying to
He meant the guy I was replying to was misguided.

And at the risk of being branded a full-blown Bruery hater (I genuinely don't wish them ill in spite of my disappointment with the path they've taken), I can't help but laugh at the timing of cancelling a highly anticipated beer AND deploying a buggy, insufficiently tested new online store right before asking people to renew. SitR w/ P&C was one of the few beers that even made me think twice about dropping out (fantastic beer on draft in the past), bummer that they can't scale beers like that and Mash & Coconut into a bottled product.

Are they serious with that store upgrade?

The store is brutal. I'm more offended by that than I am with the SitR news.

I am trying to remember about last year's renewals...I thought there was something horrible during that time as well, in addition to the asking for renewal fees a few months earlier than normal.

I don't recall anything specific other than it was heavily loaded toward the end of the year last year too. In fact a couple of the releases extended into January and February. I could be wrong, I renewed last year. I am strongly considering letting my Hoarders membership go this year. I guess the other option is to look for a few people to share it with.

That would have been ****. Long rumored and promised, then right before renewals announced it would be BOTTLE POUR AT THE BREWERY ONLY! Da ferk!?!

I'm convinced that they're trying to get the current members to drop out on their own accord. Thus paving the way to sign up new suckers to max out on the overpriced blends. Seems like most HS members are being very selective nowadays. Rather than booting the deadbeat hoarders and taking a hit to their rep they'll make it easy for them to choose not to renew.
