I know, I know... a brown ale. It's not that exciting.
I've got about 40 all grain batches under my belt, but not one has been a brown ale. I feel like I'm missing out. I'm aiming to make a rich, yet hoppy, brown ale - perhaps a hoppier version of Brooklyn Brown. A touch of chocolate, a touch of nuttiness with toast. Complimentary hops. Easy to drink.
Here's what I have - what do you think?
5 gal
OG: 1.056
FG: 1.014
ABV: 5.2%
IBU: 30
SRM: 22
10 lb 2 Row
.75 lb Victory
.5 lb Caramel 60
.25 lb Chocolate
.1 lb Carafa Special III
Mash at 152 for 60 mins. Batch sparge.
.65 Oz Northern Brewer @ 60 for 20 IBU
.5 oz Willamette @ 15 for 5 IBU
.5 oz Cascade @ 15 for 5 IBU
.5 oz Willamette @ 0
.5 oz Cascade @ 0
1L starter of WLP002. Ferment at 66.
Let me know what you think!
