I hope this is the right area to post this. Can anyone tell my about the portions of Yeast, & Irish Moss the greater the volume of beer?

For example:

5 gallon batch = 1 vile of yeast & 1 tsp Irish Moss

so would:

10 gallons = 2 viles of yeast & 2 tsps of Irish Moss

&

50 gallons = 10 viles of Yeast & 10 tsps Irish Moss

Do you have to use that much Yeast & Irish Moss, or can a little go along way???????

Thanks guys in advance :rockin::rockin:

we visited a brewery last weekend that pitches a 30 gallon starter into a 936 gallon batch!
Thats not quite as much as it sounds like, if my figures are correct. That's a 4qt/1gal starter per barrel... Seems a bit low actually, though I have never brewed on that scale and am obviously talking out of my a** !!

If you are seriously considering larger batches, read about stepping up starters.

Just as a side note, both packets of Irish Moss that I have say 1/4 teaspoon per 5 gallons and add it at the beginning of the boil. Although this contradicts every recipe I've seen, I have trouble imagining both companies would say use less, if they didn't believe that was best. I follow their instructions.

I use whirlfloc, and if I recall correctly, the instructions say to use 1 tablet per 5 gallons. I use 1/2 tablet per 5 gallons and it works wonderfully.
