Though it's a little later than I'd initially hoped, I finally got the time to brew my first batch. Steeped the grains so far, and about to add the malt. The house smells awesome. I'm really excited to get this going. I'll probably update this in a little while, too. I also just wanted to say that this place is amazing. I've done WAY more reading than posting, but I feel I have more than enough information to get this done right. Thanks guys.

I'm coming up on the anniversary of my first brew (APA) soon...12/31/2010. I will definitely be brewing another Pale Ale this year to celebrate. For me, my favorite brew is still my first, just because it was so mysterious and exciting. Hope yours is just as great, good luck!

Just added the extract, and waiting for it to boil again. I hate the waiting, but I know it will be worth it in the end.

Just realized that I spelled it wrong. Ferocious, not Fericious...too excited, I guess.

Just spent $200 at the lhbs .... Ready to go myself .... Just over
10 months and 20 brews. Great hobby!

I would, but I have somewhere to be later.

Got it all done at about 9:30 central time. House smells AMAZING! Took a small sample out and tasted it....not horrible, but not great. I know it will get better with time, so I'm not sweating it. It's currently sitting at 68 degrees and the basement has been steady between 68 and 70 for the past week, so I should be good to go.

Keep an eye on that temp you do not want the wort to get any higher. Once fermentation starts it can rise up almost by 10 degrees.

I've been keeping a close eye on it. Its staying constant...so far. I'm getting a good amount of bubbles out of the airlock too. I'll continue to monitor closely and hope it doesn't go too high.

I've gotten it down to a steady 66 degrees. Still getting action out of the airlock, but seems like it has slowed a little. I'm not too worried...it's only been 2 days.
