My son got me a Hooba Dooba Brew kit for my birthday several months ago. My son is a beer connoisseur
and has tasted at least 400 different brews from around the world as well as making a few of his own (you should see his bottle collection).
The first brew we made together was a kit Oatmeal stout that was awesome. My next brew was an all grain orange honey wheat for my wife. It is a Belgian wheat with bitter orange, coriander, and peach blossom honey. Another delicious brew! Thanks to all the great info on HBT and You Tube. I currently have a brown Holiday ale in the Carboy. It is my own concoction of Northern English Brown Ale, modified with a separate tea adder of 4.5 oz of Hershey's Special Dark non-fat Cocoa, 4 cinnamon sticks, 2 tsps of nutmeg, and 1.5 tsps of ground ginger in one gallon water stepped for 45 minutes after water boiled. I added this tea to the ale Wort with 5 minutes left in the boil. I used 7.6 lbs of light malt extract in a basic brown ale partial mash recipe. It brought the OG to 1.062. It will definitely be a holiday celebration brew. The Wort tasted delish. I trust it will be another enjoyable ale! Thank you all brewers on HBT for all of your excellent information making brewing a fun, creative, and tasteful hobby!
