Hello forum,
I received a Mr. Beer for my birthday at the beginning of March. I have always been curious about home brewing but I always felt like there was a large investment needed. I brewed the Classic American Light that came with the kit and immediately fell in love. I then ordered a Brown Nut Ale to brew along with a second LBK so that I didn't have to wait for 6 weeks before I could get another batch going. 2 weeks into the fermentation process and I have tasted a bit of my CAL and it is amazing. I have been consumed with beer all this month. After getting my BNA into the LBK, I then went to my LHBS and told them what I was doing and that I wanted to try to brew a clone of Boulevard's Tank 7. The guy was very nice with helping me find a recipe and then adjusting it to a 2.5 gallon batch. My one question though is I know we discussed splitting the hops. If I am only going to do a 2.5 gallon batch. Shouldn't I split the entire recipe in half? Including DME and Water and everything really. I am now to the point where I will either be buying another 15 LBK's and then just using those so I am able to do smaller batches to try out new beers or split 5 gallon recipes up in them. As you can possibly tell by now, I am very excited about my new found obsession. Thanks in advance for any help.
