Hello all. I just put my first brew in the carboy a couple of days ago, then I found this great forum! I learned more in a couple of hours of reading here than I have in months of research before. Thanks all!
I manage a camp/retreat center just West of Fort Collins, CO. We are at about 8,000 ft. My busy time is in the summer of course. My hobbies are poker and, now, brewing beer!
I had a blast brewing my first batch. Used a kit for a simple amber purchased from a local homebrew store. I just bought another 5gal glass carboy for $20 off craigslist and after I bottle this first batch I am thinking of brewing a pale ale.
The only problem I am having with the whole process is trying to keep the fermenting temps down. We have in-the-floor heating and the batch temps hover around 72! I am planning on building a fermenting box from an old fridge I have out in the shop and a controller (got the idea here).
