Brewed up a falconers flight IPA today. First ever all grain. Curious as to how I did and how to figure it out on my own too.

12 lbs 2 row pale
1 lb crystal 40
.4 lb dextrine/carapils

infusion mash. Temp was about 153. OG after boil was around 1.061

below is from brewsmith (still figuring this damn thing out)

If you hit 10 points below your post boil gravity I have you at 76% efficiency. If so you should be proud.

Cheers!

Looks like BS has it pretty well figured out in the printout if you know which numbers to look at (which I don't.) Like PP said, I'm not sure exactly which numbers you want to use. There are many different points during the brew you can calculate, depending on which one you want. Mash efficiency vs overall efficiency (as compared to expected OG) are 2 different things.

Brewers Friend has one that is pretty easy, just plug your grain and SG in:
http://www.brewersfriend.com/brewhouse-efficiency/

BeerSmith has a nice chart here (http://www.beersmith.com/Grains/Grains/GrainList.htm) . You can use this to figure out the potential of the grain used, then calculate by hand. I'm not smart enough, but here's a thread that pretty much explains the math: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f36/help-calculating-conversion-159655/
