I'm fairly new to homebrewing but have been at it strong for about a year and a half and my last 3 batches have been all grain with a cooler mlt. Looking for some locals to possibly start up a homebrew club to improve our craft and taste/critique local home brew.

Cool...I went to Clarion Univ. and have been to the local tractor parts store in Reynoldsville (McGarveys?) so I'm a little familiar...I'm not sure how many of us brewers are around here...I have a couple of friends who brew, but they are in the State College area...

Maybe off topic, but have you been to the LHBS in Clarion, Slagles?

Yes I know of a very few but what a great hobby!! I have been to slagles and Terry's prices seen pretty awesome but I also support northern brewer since they support brewing tv and the brewing network which I love but I try to get as much from slagles as I can.... I live about 2 miles from mcgarveys equipment!

I am about in elk county, I work in brockway and I am in Du Bois fairly often. I would love to help start a club, I am interested in learning everything I can.

I'm in Coalport and new to brewing. I'm a 45 minute drive from DuBois, and I go there occasionally. Starting a club is a good idea.

I'm thinking a small HomeBrew Fest for the Central PA (DuBois -Altoona) brewers this summer.

I think that is a fantastic idea.

If you get a club going, sign me up for a newsletter. I live in DuBois and I'm brand new to homebrewing. Willard.

Hey all, I just wanted to let you guys know that jester(mike) and myself (pat) are gonna celebrate national homebrew day (may 7th) on Saturday may 4th. Were brewing a big burley All grain barley wine with our first runnings, and a small beer or two off of our 2nd and 3rd runnings. If any of you are interested in coming out to help/learn during our brew day you are more than welcome to. We will have an array of our homebrew for tasting and ask that you bring your homebrew as well if you so choose. If anyone is interested PM me or mike and we will get you directions and info.

Cheers Pat

i'd be interested in a club or get-togethers. I live in Clearfield, and have been homebrewing for about 3.5 years.

So how did your big, burly, barley wine turn out?

That was an awesome brew day. Our Barleywine OG was 1.100, second beer a sterling hopped lager OG 1.047, and we added more grain for our last beer which is a 1.040 OG Australian hopped Saison thing which is being fermented with a wild yeast that mike cultured off some backyard raspberries. Martin (bruwsomtin) stopped over from clarion and I think at least monthly get togethers are in order.

Cheers pat.

I'm interested in doing a barleywine for winter, but I'm curious. How long will you age it before trying the first bottle? Or, (to ask the same question in reverse) if I wanted to celebrate Christmas/New Years by opening a bottle of barleywine, when should I start brewing it?

yeah it was a pretty awesome brew day. we drank some awesome beers and hopefully made some too.

in terms of your barleywine soapy, i'd allow 2 months at the very least but honestly as soon as you like the taste of it it's ready to drink. age is only gonna improve a beer like a barleywine . if you brewed it now and laid it down until christmas it should be incredible. if you want help/tastetesters let us know

Were gonna try a few in like a month or month and a half fresh then try it periodically every few months. I think brewing one now would be good for Christmas and years to come. Just pitch lots of healty yeast and oxygenate the nuts off it.

Hey everyone im chris and im over in punxsy. Id love to meet up with some local brewers for a brew day or getting a club together.

Hey I'm originally from DuBois but now live in Virginia. It would be cool to be come home an brew or hang with the brew club. Seven extract batches, looking to make the jump to all grain soon.

psnydez86 and I have done a few joint brewdays and it's been pretty cool. it'd be great to have more people involved. so we should definitely plan something.

that'd be sweet. let us know when you're planning on coming up and we'll figure something out. if we can't brew we'll atleast drink some and talk beer

Cool to see more people that are fairly local homebrewing! Jester and I are planning another big brew day for next may on national homebrew day so if anyone's interested on meeting up then or prior let us know. Mike and I hang out regularly sharing home and commercial beers.

I'm totally down for a brew day. I'm a new brewer, goin to bottle my first batch this weekend. I deployed overseas twice for a total of almost 3 years and the entire time I was gone I was researching brewing. My troops used to make fun of me cuz they would walk in and I'd be into my "beer porn". Haha.
