Well...

Decided to shut down my tropical fish hatchery & convert it into a place to store all of my brewing "stuff", move my electric rig in & possibly add a cold room.

I have 2 freezers, one vertical & one chest. I could possibly add a wall, insulate & use the A/C unit to keep at fermentation temps...

I wonder though - what do I gain by doing that? Anyone have any thoughts on it?

The room is 6 X 12 & I am in the process of removing the remaining fish, tanks, plumbing & tank supports...

It will be an open slate.. The one issue is I don't have hot water but I do have a floor drain.

I use an IC so hot water would be available for clean up.

I am all ears...

Got everything removed...

Now constructing the cold room. I will lager in a chest freezer. The hope is to keep this room in the mid 60's.

Would like to keep freshly bottled beer in here too for bottle conditioning.

That's a good looking space with a lot of potential.

Do you have plans to ventilate the e-brewery? With the exposed insulation/plywood I'd be worried about moisture. Or did you strip the insulation out?

Stripped the insulation out. It is a detached garage & the rafters, etc are open to the ply under the shingles.

Obviously can't see that in the photos.

The fridge is in the cold room for lagers. The remainder of the room is for ales & conditioning whatever I decided to bottle. STC 1000 for the room, heat & A/C & a Johnson Controls for the lager fridge.

Just need more shelving for everything.

Well... Accomplished a lot...

Now have a climate controlled room, reorganized the entire garage, a better place for all of my tools & now have my brew rig in order...

I hope to do my first multiple decoction mash today. Vienna Lager.

Roll Tide! Looks like a fantastic brew room! Do you vent the steam produced?

Sent from my iPhone using Home Brew

And Roll Tide to you too sir....

It is a detached garage with exposed rafters & soffit, so no..

Had there been sheetrock & insulation involved, I would have placed one in...
