I built a single tier natural gas powered brew stand awhile back. I now feel I need a wind shield on two sides of the unit. The long side would be around six feet with the short side being oh, around 2'6".

I did a web search for diamond aluminum but found it pricey. Anybody know of a good inexpensive place to get this, or, is there another option I should consider?

Thanks

If you make the skirt 12" tall, it's:
$51 here
$45 here (2x 1'x4')
$29 here

Most of these places are really selling it by the square foot, and will shear the plates to your specs for little or no money.

I replaced all the rubber floor mats on my golf cart with aluminum diamond plate. I don't remember who I used because it was years ago, but I bought it online and they cut 9 pieces to my dimensions (No 2 were alike). When I got them all I had to do was put them in the break and do some fine tuning...

I'm about to buy some to cover my brewstand for wind and aesthetics.
Cutsmetal was used by someone (can't remember who) in their brewery as a wall covering. It was the bling! The prices look pretty good.

I am considering 'cosmetic' diamond plate (0.023", $95 per 4x8). It ships via UPS, so the shipping savings should be considerable.

I looked at Metal Depot, but the shipping for a single 4x8 sheet of 0.063 Diamond Plate cost more than the metal!

I'll keep this posted when I get my samples of the cosmetic stuff. Let me know if you find it cheaper!

EDIT: Looks like the shipping on that 4x8 sheet of cosmetic grade diamond plate is $20. So that makes it $115 delivered for 32 square feet, or about $3.60/sq ft. I wonder if that stuff is just foil thickness...

Simple Roof Flashing is what I would be going for if your not looking for, its not "cosmetic" about 15 bucks for a 2 by 20 foot roll.

If you get to mpls Mn. "discount steel" will have scrap for about 4.00 a pound. but you have to pick it up.

Why not just get some cement backer board for tile? It'll block the wind, it's not flammable and will block heat for your sensitive stuff. Something like this:
Backer board from Lowes

3x5 for $11.50. Paint it. Lots cheaper.

Thin aluminum flashing would likely get overheated and bow pretty badly over time, not to mention the ruffling metal sound every time the wind blew. I've had great luck digging at the scrap yard for sheet material cutoffs in stainless.

I have done the backer board as my heat shield below my burners to protect my pumps. It works well, but could look nicer. I still need to paint mine...maybe that will help.

The flashing does not work so well, at least as a heat shield around a burner. I've put around three batches on it and I don't expect it to last much longer. It's really warping and looking distressed.
