Today I am going to brew a 10 gal batch of an American IPA. I have a converted cooler for a mash tun but am not sure my 30 pounds of grain and 9 gal of strike water are going to fit. If it all does not fit can I to the mash strike in 2 steps or not? And if I can do it in 2 steps what is the process to do this?

Thanks all

Cheers

If I were you, if no time restrictions, I would do two seperate mashes, sparges ,the whole bit. How big is the cooler?

Also how would I go about doing 2 batches? Would I put half my grain and half my water in, let it sit for an hour then do my sparge water? Or would I put the rest of my grain in after the first strike, strike it again with the other half of my water, let it sit again for an hour and the sparge with all the grain in there? Im just unclear about the steps to do 2 batches?

Thanks
