Brew commander wires

Does it matter which of the 240v wires gets fed from the source? I’m running it to a spa panel and the instructions didn’t say if I should use the male plug or if they’re interchangeable. I have a wire that I was going to run from the heating element but has the female nema on the end

If you are using the 3 blade L6 connector that comes with the Brewcommander, get the ground blade correct, then the two legs of 240 VAC are interchangeable.
