I just got a brew belt. Why can't I use it with a stainless steel fermenter? I understand why not glass, but why noy stainless?

Rich

I dunno. I hope you get an answer. I'm working on a single temp controlled fermenter design using a 10 gallon SS corny. Was thinking either a brew belt or fermwrap to provide heat. Cooling solution is a secret until I get it built.

I'm calling it G2-B2.

i use it on my glass carboy and plastic buckets, there is no reason it won't work on stainless.

Good to hear. It says not to use on glass, wood or metal fermenters. I figure they are covering their a** in case damage would occur. Plastic is cheap enough that no one would complain.

Thanks for comments

I can't understand why they don't recommend using with SS fermenters. I have used similar products with conicals and sanke fermenters. The only thing is that you should use a temperature controller.

i could imagine a carboy breaking if it's filled with really cold wort and you put a hot brew belt on it but i think that brew belt only goes to 75 degrees or so 70 degree wort is not a problem.
