So I just bottled my first brew 5 days ago and dont hear any bottles busting yet... knock on wood...

Went to the home brew shop today since I have an empty bucket and figured i would try again! I got a Belgian Caramel Wit Kit from Brewers best...

Was wondering if you guys would buy the secondary this time around or wait till i get a "clearer" beer to buy the secondary and let the wit beer sit in the primary 3 weeks or so....

Also was wondering if you guys had any experience with this kit and perhaps any tips.... Standard 3 week fermentation and 3 week bottle condition, then cool, drink and repeat?

Id like to try a couple more kits before I get brave and go for the grains etc...

No wit needs a secondary, IMO. Cloudy and young is best. I ferment in primary for about 10 days (with stable FG) and then cold crash and keg/bottle. Even with cold-crashing a wit yeast/beer is still mostly cloudy.

Get a secondary if you plan on making lagers that need to be stored for long periods of time, or if you age on oak chips or fruit for long periods of time. Otherwise, even dry-hopping can be done in primary. You can also use another ale pail to secondary for shorter periods if you just want to do it that way. Clear beer can come from primary-only fermentation, though.
