First ever brew, yes...it was an extract kit...is bottled and sadly still a few weeks away from tasting/drinking.

So, after one boil-over, I tracked down a turkey fryer $35 and change from Cabela's. Tried it out today with a Dunkelweizen partial mash, with a liquid yeast kit.

Dropped one of the LME containers into the pot as I was trying to get the last bit of malt of it out, and panicked for a brief moment. Then I thought what the heck, at least the boiling wort should get everything out of the container. So the second one I did that on purpose, figuring any evil germies will be boiled alive over the next hour. Anybody see any problems with that, or am I in the clear?

Next brew, an English brown ale. :mug:

During my first brew, the plastic ring around the top of the liquid extract carton slipped off and into the pot while trying to get every last bit out of it. It's my understanding that it was fine as soon as I fished out the plastic and got the boil going because everything would die out during the boil. 5 weeks later, tried the first bottle and the beer ended up tasting great. My guess is you're fine. But, I'm no expert, so I could have just gotten lucky

You won't get an infection. A fifteen minute boil will kill almost anything living.

LME can be a pain to transfer; I've tried dipping the container, transferring to a pyrex container that can be dunked longer, and rubber spatula scraping. My favorite method is to dip out a little wort with my ladle, cool it a bit, and swish it around in the container once I've got the bulk stirred into the wort.
