Should Breiss Carapils dextrin malt be entered in Bru'n Water as a base malt or as a crystal malt, and what is the best Lovibond color to use in conjunction with it?

And for bonus points, since the new Breiss "Carapils Copper" (30L) dextrin malt should be showing up at the retail level soon, what should the proper entry settings be for this new malt?

Carapils is a crystal malt with about a 1.5L color. The copper version is similar in that it's a 30L crystal malt.

Labeling these malts as "base" "crystal" and "roast" simply gives the brewing water simulation some parameters to work off of. It's trying to classify how acidic the malt is based on color and assign an equation to that malt. What answer does it give you when you tell it that it's a 1.5L Roast malt? What answer does it give when you tell it that it's a 1.5L Base malt? If those answers are different than the crystal malt answer, you could assume it's being handled by different sets of equations in the software.

If after brewing your beer you find the simulation was wrong simply tweak the color up or down to adjust the acidity of the malt.
