Hi folks

It drives my nuts. Every single time after sparging and taking malt pipe away, I have to blindly fish that large red silicone seal with mash paddle out from wort.
Sometimes I lift malt pipe into sparging position already without that gasket. Sometimes it still here on the pipe after lifting, but drops into wort later after couple of minutes.

Anyone found a remedy for this?
I couldn't figure out how to securely fix it onto ther malt pipe. So all that comes to my mind is kinda tie a thin stainless (so that element won't burn it) fishing line to it so it would be easier to take it out after sparging.
But I strongly hope there is another solution.

What sized unit do you have? I’ve been using the same 20L Braumeister for more than 12 years with the original malt pipe and gasket. I only sparge maybe ⅓ of the time, and when I do it’s into a 5 gallon bucket rather than the Braumeister itself. The gasket occasionally detaches into the sparge bucket, but isn’t a big deal if it does.

Replacement gaskets are available (MoreBeer, maybe) if yours has gotten stretched. Otherwise, parts are hard to come by. Sadly Braumeister is a ‘mature’ product line and isn’t well supported after-market. Possibly you could find comparable gasket material online from Granger or other supplier.

I have BM20. And gasket looks like not stretched at all - it sits firmly when it is at room temp. May be it is loosening while hot - not sure.
