This might belong in the new brewer section but it is an extract kit.
I bought the NB Bourbon Porter kit and brewed it up last night. The projected OG was 1.065. I followed the directions to the tee and tested with refract (brix) and it show at least 19 (more like 19.5) which converts to 1.0808. I even added a bit more water for transfer waste. I guess this will result in higher ABV, but my question is what did I do to get it so high?
