At an estate sale. They are missing the tube assembly, whatever you call it that goes inside. Is there a good place to look to replace these? Are there a lot of manufacturers of these and do they make several types?

That's called a spear. A good alternative may be: there is an equipment vendor on HBT(under: vendors) who sells a tri-clover(similar?) coupling which lets you have two inlet tubes, and, I'm guessing one is short, the other long. If I find it, I'll PM you.

Try: brewershardware.com ...$79, I think. There are reviews about it on HBT.

I actually found a box and packing material last night. And with the help of the, "Handyman's secret weapon", I got it closed up.

Mailed it this morning and should be on your door step sometime Tuesday.

I'll PM you the tracking #.

Like I told you on the side,... while packing them I noticed both were different lengths. So at least one should work, maybe both if your lucky.

ALL great ideas! Since Plumber Bob was cool enough to get them to me....and send me pics of his set up, I'm giving these a try because they can be dual purpose as I see it. Fermenting aids, as well as serving aids.... Thanks guys.... One question....have you had any trouble using them with 5 gal batches, or do you usually do 10+?

So far I'm only doing 10g batches. Don't know how it would work for 5g, but off hand I think it will do. Someone else might point out an obvious flaw in that. IDK

I have a 7.25g keg cleaned, sanitized, and under C02 pressure in case I do a big beer and only want 5g of it.

Also I buy commercial kegged beer for backup and keg rotation reasons. If I need to change keg sizes, I can simply take a used empty for deposit and get what ever size I need. After the chore of emptying it, :drunk:, I can clean and sanitize it for use as needed. Deposit costs are the same regardless of keg size.
