I am looking to switch from Flip top to a Burgundy style bottle to make it easier to label and keep the bottle cost down. I like the burgundy bottle because I can cap with the new "Zork" caps and it is pretty easy, no extra tools needed which is a plus for my living room operation. However I don't want to make a case full of bottle bombs, or worse have a whole batch break while in bottle carbonating; It is recommended to use Champaign bottles because of the pressure they can handle. Zorks don't work on that style bottle and I don't want to go with a plastic stopper/cage setup.
Anyone have any experience with bottling Cider in Burgundy bottles?

Thanks in advance.

are they wine bottles? You can't bottle carbonated beverages in wine bottles - they aren't designed to handle the pressure and could be very dangerous once under pressure. I have plenty of champagne bottles that I can use regular crown caps on, you just have to look around for them. If you are bottling still cider then wine bottles are fine.

Yes, Burgundy bottles are wine bottles. I was trying to avoid buying a capper and caps. So based on this I should just buy flip tops again.
