I stumbled upon this item recently

http://www.midwestsupplies.com/products/ProdByID.aspx?ProdID=4189

I have always bottled, but I'm sick of pulling my hair out for 3 hours sanitizing/drying and filling. I will be switching to a Corny dual kegging setup w/ carbonating stone.

Bottling has its advantages however, and I would like to still be able to throw a 6pack together for some friends as a gift should the need arise.

I'm just looking for some advice and tips from those that have used this process and equipment in the above link.
- Do you have to prechill your bottles before using the pressured bottle filler?
- How do you cap without losing all your carbonation and foaming over once you release the filler from the bottle?
- Any other tips you can provide are appreciated.

Thanks!

I don't even bother with the fancy methods. I chill a sanitized bottle in the freezer then fill straight from the tap, tilting the bottle. Since the beer foams a slight bit that should push out the O2, and I then cap right away. My headspace seems about normal and I've never had a problem with the beer being flat.

I have always done this also and found nothing wrong with it. With me now starting to enter comps, I want everything to be as good as I can get it so I got a cpbf. I used it this weekend past, so the jury is still out as to weather it is any better than what I have been doing.

what about using the Grolsch bottles instead of capping?

That will work, too.

As far as filling bottles from the keg, right out of the faucet, the boss aquired a keg of craft-built rootbeer, from a local Microbrewery. I wanted to take home a bottle of it. I cleaned my swing-top, put it in the cooler, and filled it after it was chilled. Absolutely no problems at all. I've done a similar thing with beer. Comes out just fine.
