+1 on the no. You'll find the corks coming coming back out on their own. Champagne bottles is the way to go if you want big jugs o' beer. Or 22oz bombers.
 
You can, as long as you don't carbonate the beer at all (You'll want to degas it before bottling as well). Most beers will not taste great flat...
