hi, I just received a lode of bottles from someone who hasn’t brewed in a while. Little dusty, no big deal, but crusty residue inside. Only a couple cases, but worth saving, or just dump? If keep, how do I clean them? I soaked in sanitizer for a while, some came out, not sure if just soaking is the answer. Brush / water jet?

Thanks

Rather the sanitizer try soaking them in an oxidizing cleaner such as pbw or oxi clean free with HOT water. If they are very crusty a bottle brush may help.

If you want to save them, soak them in oxy for a few days or however long they will need. I dont know how much they cost but if they are crazy bad might be worth cutting bait. The oxy clean soak will work, I am absolutely confident. Even though I dont bottle, I know this to be true. Odds are good your travel coffee mug needs a soak to. Oxy will make it go from brownish black, to looking like brand spanking new metal.
1 to 2 tablespoons per 5 g iirc. I like less, easier to rinse.
I dont think an infection could live through an oxy and sani soak, but maybe someone else knows more about that.
