Twist offs can be used, but they will sometimes not create an air-tight seal. If your seal is not air-tight, you'll never be able to get your beer to properly carbonate because, much like in your fermenter, the CO2 will simply escape the container. Unfortunately, I don't know of a good way to check whether your bottles will seal air-tight or not, and even though water or other fluid might not be able to escape, air may still be able to.
 
I also heard that the twist off bottles have thinner glass and can break while trying to use pry off tops on them. I would recommend to go out and by some more pry off bottles if you are coming close to bottling time of a brew. If not, go out and by some bottles that have beer in them. I personally had family and friends holding on to bottles for me. I got around 5 - 6 cases in 3 months.
