Bottle from the keg?

Im wondering if i can bottle from the keg. I started kegging but Id like to continue bottle a few but hate to prepare priming sugar each time only for a few bottles. So im wondering if i can bottle after the beer is carbonated from the keg. If so just from the tap or other ways?

I fill bottles off a picnic tap with good results. I just try to fill the bottle completely and cap on foam at the top of the bottle.

Some report that chilling the bottles or turning down the gas helps a bit with foaming.

When I bottle off the keg, they are usually consumed shortly, but even after a month in the fridge they seem fine.

Depending on what kind of taps you have, would depend on how you would want to do it. If you are just using picnic taps, then *most* bottling wands will fit snuggly into those taps. You turn the pressure down to just enough to push the beer, have your bottles sanitized & chilled and then fill just like you would off of a bottling bucket. I did this successfully for nearly 2 years and won several medals, so they stay carbonated properly for shipping and storage for most competitions well.

If you have a kegerator/keezer, look for a growler filler attachment for your faucets.

I have perlicks and would a growler filler work or it would fiam too much?

I have perlicks too and have taken a short piece of 1/2 in. silicon tubing (about 6 inches) and piece of clear thick wall tubing that fits snugly into the silicon tubing (about 6 inches). This clear tubing will fit into a bottle. The silicon tubing then fits snugly onto the perlick. I reduce the pressure as low as I can while still being able to fill a bottle. I have only filled 22 oz bombers and 1 liter swing top bottles. No problems so far.

I did make the "beer gun" that is posted on HBT using a racking cane, stopper, picnic tap, tubing and an out disconnect. It worked great but I usually only need to fill a few bottles and do not want to clean the homemade beer gun.

If you don't mind using PET bottles I really like the method shown in this video.

I use it all the time now, works very well, very little foam and no need to readjust your regulator pressure

Bought my carbonater caps HERE. I got a couple and have them set up with different lengths of tubing depending on the size of the bottle I plan to use.

THESE bottles are nice too, I like them mainly because they're brown, but any bottle with a standard 28mm thread will do. You can find 16 oz brown bottles as shown early in the video with a little bit of Googling...

FWIW, when I'm taking the beer to a party or dinner and fully expect it to be drank, I don't bother with the sanitizing step.

From the tap, I will throw on some silocone tubing with reduced PSI when doing growlers with success. If its a quick bottle, straight from the picnic. Ive had some last months, while others last weeks. I have beergun setup built, just need to make the drop on the beergun... Ive used it in the past, and man it is a lifesaver.
