So I'm in the market for a bottle filler. Does anyone have a preference? Right now I'm interested in the counter pressure fillers that are offered on morebeer.com and kegconnection.com. Leaning towards keg connection due to it being cheaper and looks identical to the morebeer version. Anyone used either of these?

LOL!

I filled over four cases of bottles with my MoreBeer filler, today. One and a half each of Apple Hill Cider, Brown Porter and Spiced Stout.

I love it!

I bought it over the Keg Connection version because the MB one us stainless steel, not brass. The valve us easier to use, as well.

Oh, I've used the cobra trick with the racking cane stuffed in, too. In my opinion, it's pretty worthless.

I prefer to build my own equipment when I can. This is one outright purchase that I have never regretted.

I have just been using a length of tubing that fits over the spout of my picnic tap, cut at an angle at the bottle bottom end. I dial down the pressure to just enough to push out the beer. I fill very slowly. It has worked well for the few bottles I have tried.

I've tried the no stinking beer gun a few times and am having issues with keeping carbonation. I'm going to try it a few more times before going with a pressure filler.

I've not had any problem at all with carbonation and I've done lots of bottles with the "no stinkin", including some sent off to competition.

At what psi and temp do you have the beer prior to reducing it down to bottle? Do you knock the temp down a few hours before bottling?

Are you getting more foam than just a little?

Are you topping off to have about 1" of headspace?

Last time I did the "no stinking" method the beer was fairly cold. I was out of town at a buddies house and had brought a keg so I'm not sure of the exact temp. I do know it was fairly cold though. This was my process:

1). Hooked up a small piece of hose (a foot maybe) to my picnic tap
2). Attached a bottling wand to the hose and slide a stopper over the wand
3). Chilled the bottles
4). Released all pressure from the keg
5). Turned psi to 5-6
6). Put wand into bottle and stopped with stopper
7). As bottle filled occasionally release pressure in bottle
8). Filled till foam started coming out of bottle then removed wand and capped

Of course I sanitized everything. There was very little foam while filling too. Capped immediately. A few days to weeks there was carbonation but seemed to be quite a bit less then when poured from keg. Am I missing anything here?
