I have a perfect place to store beer bottles while they condition for several weeks but that room is always cooler than anywhere else throughout the house. I put a thermometer in there for three days straight and depending on outside temp. the room is always anywhere between 58 and 62 deg.
Is this too cold for bottle conditioning?
If the type of beer matters I have an IPA and a porter almost ready to bottle.

Thanks in advance.

It will take longer. Standard recommendation around here is three weeks at 70F. If you are at 60F, it will take quite a bit longer for carbonation to happen properly. For long term storage, though, that's an ideal temp.

yeah, it will take longer. I measured pressure in the bottle while conditioning at a low temp and it seemed to take along time to see any pressure rise.

I don't know what yeast you used, but 58 to 60 is on the low side of most ale yeasts and they will get sluggish. They think its winter and they don't like to do much work. Kinda like us in the winter :)
