I recently moved my bottles to CW crates and placed them in a closet.

I have several batches stored there and all are way past bottle conditioning stage. When the wife went to pull some linen out of the closet she asked why it smells like beer. Well a quick inspection and I realized one bottle had no bottom. So was it a weak or cracked bottle? Was it the change in temperature? An infection? I I have stored my bottles in a different closet with no issues and I would hate to clean this mess up again.

Anyone seen this before?

Bottle bombs can be dangerous - be careful with any from that batch (or other batches that might have the same problem). Some possible causes are too much priming sugar, bottling before fermentation was complete, infection, wrong fill level, and incomplete mixing in of the priming sugar.
