Experienced by first bottle bomb over the weekend. No real harm or damage, though cleanup was a pain. The bottle itself failed as the cap was still on. It was a bottle I had never used before (an empty that was donated).

But bottle bombs are like hitting deer, right? A person only ever hits so many deer in their lifetime, so I'm that much closer to my quota.

Related, since the SWMBO didn't appreciate the beer and glass everywhere, I've started storing my carbonating beer in big rubbermaid type containers with lids. There's really no reason not to do that, right?

It can happen as many or as few times as it happens. Don't think there's a magic limit on that.

Hopefully that bottle just failed... was SG stable before bottling? How did you carbonate?

No reason not to put in a rubbermaid bin.

SG was stable. Batch carbbed with corn sugar, about 2.5 volumes but I'd have to check my notes on how much sugar. IPA was dryhopped with 1oz of whole leaf hops if that makes a difference. It's on it's third week of carbonating.

:off:The deer thing was just a lighthearted joke. As a kid in Boy Scouts, we were on the way to a campsite when our scoutmaster, who was driving, hit a deer. He was a very calm, almost zen like man, who wasn't too upset. He laughed it off and said "A man only hits so many deer in his life." We asked how many that is, and he responded, "As many as you hit."
