No idea if serious or if I'm just a dumb ass.
It's a dumpy place. I'd stay closer to Boston and just hump it to tree house. There's more to do here, and not much outside the city. If you don't want to stay IN the city, check out Hotel Indigo, it's at the end of the subway headed west and near I-95. You can hop on the pike to TH and get your 3 cans and wait in line for 2 hours. Go to Worcester and drink at Armsby Abbey, where you can drink Oxbow and HF, the only place in Mass where you can drink HF on tap because they hate this state, or the Alstrom bros, or both...

I def agree w/ HevvyMetalHippie said, but staying in Worcester also wouldn't be the worst thing especially if you were close to Armsby - you're a lot closer to Tree House there than you'd be in Boston, it's not an expensive city, and there's a few good places to eat and drink. Generally not a great city but if your trip is beer focused maybe swing through Trillium/Night Shift/etc. on your way down from VT and Maine and then stay in Worcester for the night?

EDIT: lol whoops I missed the honeymoon thing. Yeah maybe stay in Boston ^_^

I was going to offer a bunch of places to eat, but I realized 1/2 way through Im a cynical ******** and hate everything. tehzachatak is probably a better bet to ask, if you don't want snarky comments like: OH IS THIS ANOTHER EXPOSED BRICK, BLACK TABLE TOP BAR WITH IPAs AND MAC & CHEESE! #ihatemyself

I'll expand and say for Boston Ward 8 was solid. Didn't eat there but they had BCBS on + Maine Beer Com. rotating tap and good cocktails.

Worden Hall had the best tap list I found in the city.

Most draught lists are the same IMO.

Row/Branchline
Lulu
Hobo
Meadhall
Worden Hall

Honestly Deep Ellum and their Mexican Happy Meal is the best deal in the city. Alas

Dive Bar gets all that **** too.

So I plan to be in Boston for a Tuesday-Thursday. Want to hit up tree house both to get cans/growlers and to enjoy the brewery (if that's something people do).

Tips/tricks for accomplishing this? Easy drive out there? Dependent on releases?

With the wife who enjoys beer but no where near our level. Things to do on the way/on the way back? Should I plan to get a hotel closers to THE?

Sooo many questions...what are the answers?

I do this quite often (visiting for the week from out of town). As everyone has said, it can be a long ride if you go during rush hour. Also, the Wednesday before St Patricks day, there was an accident that created an additional 45 min delay. TH extended their hours by 15 mins or so, but I still wasnt going to make it on time so didn't bother. I always try to leave by 2:30 and it is about an 1hr and 20 mins.

I wouldn't stop anywhere unless its early in the day. You can stop somewhere for dinner on the way back. I echo what everyone else is saying about the lines. But my experience (even on the busiest days) is that the can only line was about 40 mins and the growler line was a little over 1 hour. For Very Green or something rarer, it might be longer. But if you go earlier in the day, and do cans only, it should go quick. I would avoid the growler fillup line if at all possible.

Its pretty hard to contend with Armsby Abbey. But you could also get off at the Framingham exit on the way back and do Jacks Abbey.

On St. Patricks Day: (1) TH; (2) Wormtown; (3) Night Shift.

You can do so many stops...so many possibilities....haha

I think this has passed already... That post was a month and a half ago :p

It has passed but thanks for the input. Appreciate the thoughts even if you are from that Pittsburgh thread..;)

Candlepin is my current go-to.

Anyone checked out Castle Island yet?

Been hearing great things about Big Ern finally getting to try it tonight, cant wait. Really enjoyed their other offerings (Jetty was only one that was Meh) and their pricing is fantastic

Has anyone been to the Lexington BBQ fest thing? From all reports it's been a cool chill event. I think I'm going to be able to get there for the first time this year. I see it's $5 to get in, but anyone know how much beer/food costs?

Edit: Nvm, found it ($5 for a 12oz beer ticket, super deal).

Big Ern was really good, very impressed. Guess I need to make plans to swing through Norwood to grab some 4 packs while they still have it. If they can get the hops to get this on the shelves (or preferably coolers) regularly in Mass it could become what Boom Sauce was supposed to be (and this is coming from a Lord Hobo homer)

Actually take it back, saw it outside city and from social media see mostly suburbs (CBC Westford, Crafted Holliston, Rapid Liquors, Yankee Spirits etc.) right now, but I assume metro Boston whenever next delivery day is.

I checked Pemberton Market last night. No Auranja yet, but they still had a substantial supply of Sepal and both versions of Dormancy.
