you footing the bill? I'll even only get half pints

I can't go and I don't know much about CBC's barleywines but I dig the food there and that menu sounds so good. Real curious about the 08 blunderbuss on Buffalo Trace and Utopias, too.

Hi guys,

I'll be visiting relatives this weekend. I already have plans to hit Jack Abby on Friday, as soon as we arrive. Anyone know of any bottle shops around the Dover, MA area?

Will also be heading into the city on Saturday, so I might need to find the best beer bar in Boston, plus a shop or two.

Thanks!

I'm not sure where in Boston you are going but if you want beer I wouldn't recommend anything other than going to Trillium for a tasting/growlers and then next door to Row 34 for beer/food. All the best beer bars in the area are actually in Cambridge, Allston, or Brookline.

Dover...I think I drove through there once when I was lost.

Use this, it's awesome: http://taplist.at/search/

It crowd-sources by using Untappd to project tap lists based on recent check-ins. So popular beer spots will be pretty up to date.

Thanks for linking out my site. I'm glad people are enjoying it. Is there anything you'd like to see improved or new features? I'm currently working on an email notification for beers you are watching that become available in your area. We are first going to test it with Pliny The Younger for San Francisco Beer Week.

.....that sounds like a pretty damn strong stress test.

Sunset has fou foune and kriek bottles for ~$40. I'll be there around noon -1 for lunch tomorrow if anyone wants in on a pour

They'll last until tomorrow??? I can't imagine sunset gets allotted more than a handful of bottles

I went earlier and the waitress didn't know what I was talking about (the bartender did) so I wouldn't worry about them running out in the next couple days. It was $45 and I'm glad I got to try it but part of me wishes I split the price with someone instead of going at it solo

Legit. Also, $40 for Kriek is way too ******* much. I paid, I think, $13 at Hobo for a 375 last time I got a Kriek at a bar.

Yeah, I really want to give the kriek a go but that's crazy talk; I'm holding out for a better price. I bet hobo has more in the cellar if I just asked nicely on an off night

Usually they save the entire year's allocations for Zwanze, but worth a shot! $40 at a bar for Foune is very good though.

Lord Hobo has George T. Stagg right now.
How much? Pours for rarer bourbon has increased like crazy this year. PvW 23 is $100/glass at Trade right now. I think Stagg is about $28. Meanwhile, Deep Ellum still has decent prices.

Lord Hobo usually has - for Boston/Cambridge - very reasonable whiskey prices. They do sometimes have things off-menu, so be sure to ask.

Hungry Mother used to be my spot for whiskey in Cambridge until stuff started to dry up. Its still okay but far from what it used to be. I'd get Pappy flights for around $25.

Battle of the Barrels is back at Jack's Abby on April 2nd.

Here are the four contestants:

Glazed Over -Smoked Marzen aged with Caramel, Salt and Fenugreek

Chupaca Brau - Jabby Brau aged with Tequila, Thai Chili Peppers, Galangal Root, Lemon Grass, Agave Nectar

Green Goose - Sunny Ridge aged with Cucumber, Green Tea, Lemongrass, Gooseberries

Sunny & Tonic - Sunny Ridge Pils aged with Gin Botanicals and Quinine

Those two Sunny Ridge variants sound pretty cool to me. Not so sure about that smoked marzen.. Fenugreek in a beer sounds eww.

Smoked marzen sounds like it would taste like candied bacon.

Anyone try this wild trillium ******** yet?

Im thinking of going to the anniversary event tonight at Publick House.

Haven't tried it. Wasn't terribly impressed by Bug Valley, but I liked the Lineage Rye a whole lot. I have a couple friends going but, alas, cannot make it. Report back.
