I emailed our fire department. Depending what they say - I'll shoot one to the insurance company too.

OK you REALLY got me on the garage part. I have MANY spares, where the heck are you supposed to keep em?

I'd say we've got a lot of outlaw brewers on this board. Honestly I can't find LAWS - just suggestions. Help out with a link?

Note that I did not say that I am in compliance myself:drunk: I have seven 20 lb tanks stored in my garage and I usually run two burners in my garage when I brew. I really should find a way to store them outside. It's stupid not to.

Here's the link to the National Fire Protection Association:

The site is not easy to navigate and you must register to view the documents. I'm not exactly sure how the regulations are implemented. I think that state and municipal regulations are based on the NFPA codes, but not sure if the codes themselves are the law. It might be easier to check your particular state fire codes.

More than likely, the code is the administrative implementation of a law passed by congress.

The state then must comply with the federal law. The state can become more restrictive. Then, local units of government must follow the state law. Again, the locals can become stricter than the state law.

I BTW have two 20 lbs and a couple of 100 lbs that I will soon find a new home for. I moved to natural gas.
