so my go to whenever available (for light lager) is bohemia. Even as a teenager in baja. But its been a ggod long while since ive had one as our usual restaurant lost its lease, and most others dont carry bohemia.

The ones i got recently are different. Kind of a pissy taste, like budweiser has. And the hop seems different than i remember. Almost like a crystal instead of a noble like tett, halletau, styrians, etc.

Maybe this batch got hot but that usually tastes different vs pissy/skunky. I know it came straight from the distributor to us, and those guys keep beer cold and well kept.

Is it just me? Anybody else notice something different or off about bohemia recently?

My favorite Mexican restaurant carries Bohemia. It's only been a few months since I had my first one so I can't compare to what it used to be.

I like it. It's a great beer imo. Maybe you just got a bad beer? I wouldn't give up on it.

More than 20 years of memory. Its not the same. Familiar, but not the same.

They have tried a bunch of “new” beers to try and ride the craft wave, wheat, stout, and an ipa with “citra”- (tastes like crystal). As such i wouldn’t be surprised if they changed it up, but i dont know.

Like i said, our delivery/distribution channels in CA have always been solid (as solid as you can be with mexican beer) so while i dont think its likely, a bad batch is possible.

But this tastes different, almost like a heinekin. No bueno.

Must be the Stryan hops...

Possible it could have changed, but last I had it I thought it was fairly bitter for a pilsner, but tasty. I'm thinking you got a bad bottle.

See now that’s odd. Going on third decade of it being my Mexican beer of choice I never remember it being bitter to any degree. It’s always been a watery sweet corn lager, but with an actual hop flavor finish. But those hops have always been the flowery noble profile. Tett, hallertau, styrian.

This last case tasted like an American macro pissy beer with something sharp and spicy like crystal or saaz.

Definitely possible I got bad batch. But seems like too many flavor changes to just be a case of staling. And we opened a the case so no light struck could have happened either.

I’m hesitant to order another case.

I saw a variety pack of Bohemia (Maduro , Pilsner and Weizen) and had never had it so I gave it a try. Yeah , I thought it was a bit blah...I can see how pissy and skunky could be sensed. It almost tasted to me as if it wasnt done fermenting, it tastes too sweet . Maybe with a lime wedge it could be better but I doubt Ill buy it again.

Ill take a Victoria or Modelo Negra before Id let Bohemia hit my lips again.

I used to think Bohemia was an excellent beer, a very nice pale lager, good malt and noble hop flavor, just not exactly Bohemian. Loved it. Haven't been able to find it in quite a while, which kind of bummed me out. Now I guess I'll quit looking.

100% changed. It's just watered down, fluoride taste. it used to have that authentic german pils taste, like Bitburg. It was not sweet, had some grit to it, now it's terrible. Just bought a 6 pack thinking just like you did: maybe it was the last batch, but absolutely the last time I will buy. Need to find a new mexican german tasting beer. It tastes almost exactly like dos equis to me, another beer I find undrinkable.
