My last brew was an imperial stout with OG of 1.092. I had quite a bit of blow off

In my fermenter now, I have an IIPA with the same OG- no blow off. Pretty low krausen actually.

Is this a possible indicator of a fermentation problem?

Lots of things impact krausen formation and fermentation vigor.

Yeast strain
Ferm Temp
Oxygenation Level
Starting Cell Count
Sugar Composition
etc.

You would need to do a side by side of all of the factors to get a feeling for what's different. But it's doubtful you have any issue to worry about.

Same yeast, same amount pitched.

Temp might be a little different as I'm using the ice bucket/swamp bucket method- but not by much.

It's probably temp or very different mashing schedules. It only takes a few degrees to make a big difference in activity.

For a high gravity brew, should I expect a blow off most of the time?

I've read about people raising ferm temp during the course of fermentation- I'm 6 days in- should I cut back on the ice and let it warm up a bit?

Each fermentation is different. Some will go crazy, some will just chug away slowly.

I always start off with a blow off tube just as a precaution, but rarely need it. But in those time you do You will appreciate not having to clean your ceiling.

I had to clean my closet where my fermentation takes place. It was a night mare. I noticed it was coming out of the top of my airlock on monday, but unfortunately, my LHBS was closed on Monday. I went tuesday morning to get a blow off tube and the top exploded while I was out.... Everything in my closet was covered in beer, including all my clothes, and the hangers... I left the ceiling because its a cool battle scar... :)

x2 for each ferment being different. My 1st pale ale got no more than an inch of steady off white krausen. My second pale ale,no brewing sugar as the 1st. All LME/DME/hops. I pitched the starter at 7:35pm,by the time I awoke & checked it at 7:10am,brown krausen was pushing against the lid for 4 days! The airlock plugged & cleared a few times as well. But the cooper's micro FV lid held. You get that sometimes. It is by no means an infection or anything of the sort. Don't even worry about it. Just have to clean up...
