hi

I live in Mexico and have been brewing for around a year, not much.

Home brewing is not so popular down hear yet it will come around. My piers are quite happy with the results of my brewing of course, in fact my sister who owns a little bar wants me to start brewing beer for her to sell.

I have an opportunity to buy four 34 gallon conical blichman fermentors to start this project. I wanted to hear a opinions on how this equipment would execute year round making ales.

Any comments are appreciated before I make this investment.

Thanks, Caguama.:rockin:

I'm not sure that Blichmann makes a 34 gallon conical, the only ones I've ever seen 27 and 42 gallon ones. Unless they are a one off that they did, they might not be Blichmann conicals.

They are 42 gallons.

what is a standard temperature for ales? I can keep them at the low 20s with out any refrigeration system.

Thanks

great help, thanks.

What price do you think is fair for four 42 gallon fermentors, two 30 gallon pots (they are blichmann and have been used for 4 years and are in fairly good conditions). Also two burners.

Thanks, ANdrew.

You didn't mention if they are tri-clamp fittings or the standard, but for tri-clamp I would say $4000-4500 for everything and if they are standard I would say $3500-4000 would be fair.

You need some sort of cooling system for ales that allows you to cool beer during peak fermentation - ambient air will not be enough for about a 24 hour period when yeast are extremely exothermic and can raise fermentation temperatures several degrees above ambient.

IMO, if you are looking for 1 bbl fermenters and 1 bbl mash tuns and boil pots, then $5,000 is far too much, in my opinion. Look at Stout Tanks and Kettles and compare pricing.
