Blichmann Tower Of Power

Any Tower Of Power users out there? I keep having issues with the pump recirculating the wort during mashing. I up'ed my liquor to grist ratio from 1.25 qt/lb to 1.5 qt/lb and that hasn't seemed to help. Mash tun is Blichmann with false bottom. Anyone else experience issues with recirculation? Advice?

Are you waiting the recommended 10-15 minutes after mashing in before beginning your recirculation?

I haven't had issues, what are yours?
I have done both 1.25 & 1.5
I didn't know about the 10-15 minutes Markd27 noted either.

John Blichmann was kind enough to respond to me in an email. The issue is my mill setting, the crush is too fine and when the pump starts it quickly leads to a stuck mash.

Had the same problem with mine. I was also lucky enough to have John Blichmann help me trouble shoot (at NHC in Grand Rapids).

John recommend that I not exceed the recommended flow rates and that I let the mash sit for 10 minutes before recirculation.

Did both things (and added rice hulls as a matter of course) and it fixed me right up.
